Caring for others, binding up the wounds of those who are hurting and doing so in a biblically and professionally responsible way is what the Christian Counseling programs at PBU are committed to.
We provide the necessary foundation for counseling ministry or practice, emphasizing the development of personal spiritual, intellectual and interpersonal maturity necessary for counseling others. And we provide opportunities to apply what is learned in our own community counseling center. Our faculty in the Department of Christian Counseling are practitioners, serving in both ministry and professional counseling practices, so students acquire from professionals the skill sets necessary to counsel in a variety of contexts.
Graduate programs within the Department of Christian Counseling are available for students seeking professional preparation and provide training in basic counseling theory, a biblical view of people and their problems, fundamental skills in counseling and assessment, and the opportunity for a specific area of focus.
On the undergraduate level, the Department of Christian Counseling offers the Discipleship Counseling program.
Undergraduate students also have the opportunity to participate in the Dual-Level Counseling program, earning a Bachelor of Science in Bible degree and a Master of Science in Christian Counseling degree in as little as five years.
