Admission Requirements

Undergraduate Students

All PBU students must have professed a faith in Jesus Christ as personal Savior.  Each applicant will be asked to read and sign the University’s Statement of Faith and Community Life Covenant, acknowledging the position of the University. 

Students come to PBU from many different backgrounds.  Jump to the admissions requirements that apply to you using the menu in the sidebar.

First Time Students

Applicants coming to PBU directly after graduating from high school or who have never attended college or university before are considered First Time students.  First Time students are admitted to the University on a rolling basis.
 

Application Procedures
  • Complete an application for admission, including autobiographical information that explains your story of when and how you came to know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
  • Submit application with a $25 non-refundable fee.
  • Submit official transcript(s).
  • Complete an interview, either over the phone or in person, with your personally assigned admissions professional.
  • Submit official SAT or ACT test scores (use PBU code #2661 for SAT, #3658 for ACT).
  • The average high school GPA of first time students is 3.36*.  However, a minimum 2.0 (based on a 4.0 scale) GPA is required for admission.  


Some programs have additional requirements for admission.

Transfer Students

If you have already begun your education at an accredited college, university, or Bible institute, the courses you took will be evaluated for transfer credit to the academic programs at PBU.  A number of specified Bible and/or Doctrine courses are required to be completed at PBU; all candidates for traditional undergraduate degree programs are required to complete a minimum of 60 PBU credits.  Transfer students are admitted to the University on a rolling basis
 
If you are transferring into the University, you must have attained a minimum 2.2 GPA in previous college work.  Specific majors may require a higher GPA.  The amount of transfer credit you will receive is determined upon receipt of your official transcript from the institution(s) where you have completed post-secondary work. You may also need to provide course descriptions and/or a course catalog from your previous school.  Courses in progress cannot be evaluated until official documents are received.
 

Application Procedures
  • Complete an application for admission, including autobiographical information that explains your story of when and how you came to know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
  • Submit application with a $25 non-refundable fee
  • Request final, official transcript(s) from each higher education institution attended, as well as official secondary school transcript (if you have completed less than 60 credits at the institution from which you will transfer).  
  • Submit a schedule and description of additional courses to be completed before entrance to PBU.
  • Request that the official SAT or ACT score report be sent to the PBU Admissions Office (if you have completed less than 60 credits at the institution where you previously attended).
  • Complete an interview, either in person or over the phone, with your personally assigned admissions representative. 



Early Admission

Applicants with outstanding abilities and academic records may be eligible for admission during their senior year of high school.  An application should be submitted at the end of your junior year of high school.  Acceptance is determined based on a strong three-year high school academic record, as well as junior year SAT and/or ACT scores.  Maturity, motivation, and personal qualities are also considered.  An interview will be required once the application file is complete. Early Admission students are admitted to the University on a rolling basis
 

Application Procedures
  • Complete an application for admission, including autobiographical information that explains your story of when and how you came to know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
  • Submit application with a $25 non-refundable fee
  • Request from your secondary school that official, original high school transcript(s) be sent to the PBU Admissions Office.
  • Request that the official SAT or ACT score report be sent to the PBU Admissions Office (use PBU code #2661 for SAT, #3658 for ACT).
  • Complete an interview, either in person or over the phone, with your personally assigned admissions representative.  
  • Submit a written statement of the reasons for pursuing early entrance.
  • Submit a written recommendation from a high school guidance counselor or administrator, including an assessment of the applicant’s social and emotional maturity, as well as assurance that the high school diploma will be granted upon satisfactory completion of the student’s freshman year at PBU.  
  • Submit a written statement of endorsement from the applicant’s parent(s) or guardian(s).

 



Re-entrant Students

Students who have not attended classes at PBU for one semester or more will need to complete specific application procedures. Re-entrant students are admitted to the University on a rolling basis.

Application Procedures
  • Complete and submit the re-entrant application form.
  • Submit application with a $25 fee.
  • Request official transcript(s) from each higher education institution attended since leaving PBU.
  • Complete an interview, either in person or over the phone, with your personally assigned admissions representative. 


GED Applicants

Applicants with a GED must follow all applicable admission requirements and application procedures for traditional first time or transfer students (if you are transferring from another university). GED Applicants are admitted to the University on a rolling basis.

Application Procedures
  • Complete an application for admission, including autobiographical information that explains your story of when and how you came to know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
  • Submit application with a $25 non-refundable fee.
  • Submit an official transcript of completed secondary school work, a copy of the GED diploma, and an official statement of test scores.
    • GED scores must be 2400 for a standard score total, with a minimum average of 480.

 



Home Schooled Students

Home schooled students must follow all application procedures for traditional first time students or transfer students (if you are transferring to PBU from another University). Home schooled students are admitted to the University on a rolling basis.

 

Application Procedures
  • Complete an application for admission, including autobiographical information that explains your story of when and how you came to know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
  • Submit application with a $25 non-refundable fee.
  • Submit a transcript of subjects studied, as well as grades and a cumulative grade point average; this must include the signature of the person who prepared the transcript. If the transcript does not include grades, an explanation of the method of evaluation must also be included. Home-school high school diplomas issued by the student's parents are acceptable proof of high school completion. 
  • Send an official copy of your transcript, with graduation date, after graduation. Although not required, an independent evaluation of academic progress by a qualified educator may also be included with the transcript. 
  • Students must send proof of graduation at the completion of his/her senior year unless GED (General Educational Development) scores are submitted.  If you choose to take the GED tests, a copy of the GED diploma and an official statement of the test scores should be forwarded to the Admissions Office.
  • Submit a bibliography of high school literature and an essay written by the student; this is required to accurately evaluate cognitive and analytical skills. 

 



International Students

International applicants must follow all application procedures for traditional first time students or transfer students (if you are transferring to PBU from another University).


Application Procedures

  • Complete an application for admission, including autobiographical information that explains your story of when and how you came to know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
  • Submit application with a $25 non-refundable fee.
  • Submit your application materials well in advance of the semester of intended enrollment.  Application deadlines for international students are as follows:
    • May 31st for students entering in the fall semester (August)
    • September 30th  for students entering in the spring semester (January)
  • F-1 Student Visa applicants must complete the application for Form I-20.

Non-Matriculating/Auditing Students

If you are interested in taking select courses or plan to transfer courses back to another college, but do not intend to complete a degree or certificate program at PBU, you may request non-matriculant status. If you would like to audit a course, you may do so if classroom space permits.  No credit is granted for auditing a course.

Additional Information for Non-Matriculation Status
  • Non-matriculating students may be reconsidered for matriculation at a later date. To change your status, you must notify the Admissions Department and the Registrar concerning your intent to matriculate.  At that time, you will need to complete the application procedures and requirements.
  • Non-matriculant students are limited to a part-time course load (fewer than 12 credits per semester) and are not eligible for federal or state aid, grants, or loans. Non-matriculating students who reach 30 total credits must complete the application process and be accepted into a program in order to continue taking classes at PBU.
