Graduating
from PBU
gives you
far more
than a degree.
A PBU
grad has
a reputation,
a family,
and a mission.

At Philadelphia Biblical University our students walk a different path.

There are many choices facing today's college students. We believe you should learn all you can about the schools you are considering because making the best choice for you is important.

PBU is an academic community, like any university. But we are more than that. The faculty, staff, and students here are deeply committed to Christ, the mission of the school, and one another. It is our privilege to lead PBU and to know the students who study here personally. We have worked together for nearly 16 years, both joining the faculty at about the same time. We’ve spent countless hours talking about our work of teaching and the vision for a biblical university. Today, we serve as President and Provost at PBU because we believe this is important work and that something special happens here.

We’ve seen our students change as they learn and grow and become mature in every aspect of their lives. We’ve taught in the classrooms here and know that what we teach and how we teach challenges students. We’ve kept in touch with students who have graduated and gone on to do significant and exciting work. The mission of PBU speaks for itself. Read it carefully. It’s what we’re all about.

Philadelphia Biblical University exists to educate students to serve Christ in the church, society, and the world as biblically minded, well-educated, and professionally competent men and women of character.

We talk with students often about these words. We know that they understand the mission and that their lives have all been impacted by it.

At PBU, we learn to value education not simply as a means to a job but as a lifestyle. We learn to think critically about the world and actively participate in it.

- Alex Demarco '11, Chandler, AZ, Liberal Arts

Every college or university education is centered on something: a philosophy, a worldview, a set of core beliefs. Choosing a school that has the right things at the center will make all the difference.

At PBU we are intentional about keeping Jesus Christ and the Word of God at the center of all we do.

From the curriculum to student ministries and campus activities like the arts and athletics, Christ and the Word hold us together. At PBU, biblical integration and the cultivation of wisdom are not hard to find.

At first glance PBU’s academic offerings may appear limited. But if you look closely

you will see over 50 programs and a broad range of academic opportunities

to form the skills, habits, and worldview necessary to live out your faith and succeed at your work. Every student earns a degree in Bible and many students earn another degree in a variety of fields such as a:

Bachelor of Science in
Business Administration

Bachelor of Science in Education

Bachelor of Music or

Bachelor of Social Work.

Students may focus their electives in a particular concentration, or add a professional minor to their programs. They can also enroll in dual-level degree programs earning an undergraduate and graduate degree together. You will be challenged.

School of Arts and Sciences

Because PBU believes that all truth is God’s truth and that Christians can and should be well-educated and knowledgeable about humanity and the world we live in, the liberal arts are an integral part of every student’s education. The School of Arts and Sciences faculty introduce students to the traditional subjects within the humanities, arts, and sciences but teach them in a way that expands intellectual and cultural horizons, stretching each student’s ability to think critically about all areas of life and learning.

Wisconsin Wilderness Campus
One-Year Program

The Wisconsin Wilderness Campus (WWC) of PBU is located in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, offering students a dynamic 32-credit university experience that builds a foundation for further academic study, character development, and spiritual growth. A competitive program limited to 35 students, WWC focuses on rigorous academic study within a small group context.

The Wisconsin Wilderness Campus staff and visiting faculty extend the classroom experience to include resident life, work programs, small group activities, recreational experiences, and service in the local community. These elements encourage the development of biblical wisdom which in turn impacts how students make decisions through life. The staff at WWC live and work together with students, guiding as they learn, and helping them to develop a framework for learning and living.

At PBU, I have been confronted with the reality of what it means to be a part of the body of Christ. We wrestle daily with what it means to be a community - how to take responsibility for ourselves and one another, how our personal rights intersect with the greater good, how to defer to one another, how to be mutually obligated to one another, and how to need one another and be needed in healthy ways.

- Marissa Rumpf-Lauer '12, Orwigsburg, PA,
Secondary English Education with TESOL

Seing how my professors conduct themselves professionally, along with the respect I already have for them, has inspired me to act similarly. Their continued commitment to Christ instills in me the same drive for His glory in all areas of life.

- John Geating '10, Abington, PA, Biblical Studies

Because of the way we do what we do, our students stand out. And they are sought out.

Employers, graduate schools, and ministries seek PBU graduates because they are living examples of our mission statement.

You will be made ready for your life and work in the church, society, and the world. You will be strengthened in your faith, and encouraged to keep seeking truth and serving God. If our students earned degrees and simply went out to work with no view of God’s purposes and no sense of the importance of their life lived well, we would be wasting our time. Being a Christian is more than that.

We want our students to be inspired to live an intentional life of obedient service to Christ. We teach all subjects in view of the Bible’s teaching. Our professors care about and know their students. They are examples to them and invest in them and guide them. And that is inspiring.

The best way to practice what you learn is to do. And PBU students do. Not just after graduation but while they’re here. There are many opportunities for students to be involved in the University, the community, and one another’s lives. Student groups, performing arts, athletics, mission trips, service projects, campus events, professional program activities, conferences, and clubs provide for a dynamic campus life that enriches the total PBU experience.

Financial Aid

Paying for a university education can be a daunting task. At PBU, we understand that and do all that we can to help students afford a high-quality, biblically based, private education. We will partner with you to help you find every financial aid benefit available.

Over 85% of our full-time undergraduate students receive some form of financial assistance. Merit scholarships and grants of up to $10,000 per year are offered by the Admissions Office to entering freshmen and transfer students based on high school and/or college academic records.

Some students have found that their merit scholarships and need-based financial aid together brought the overall cost of PBU down to the level of some public institutions.

We participate in federal and state need-based grants, loans, and work study programs so that you can take advantage of every opportunity.
